Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
He began skiing in 1993, and took up Para Nordic skiing in 2017.
Why this sport?
He enjoyed exercising and swimming prior to his impairment, so wanted to continue training in sport. "The idea of getting into the Paralympic team first came up when I was waiting for the ambulance. I even told the doctors about that. After the injury, the worst thing for me was the thought that I would no longer be able to train. On the third day in hospital, I already started to pull up on the handrail on the bed. The doctor forbade this, but I was determined. I was discharged in October, and in December I resumed regular training."

RENEWED JOY
He says his impairment has given him renewed happiness and motivation in his life. "Life is more fun, you won't believe it. Maybe it will sound strange and incomprehensible to many, but it became easier for me without a hand. You wake up and you want to give your best. I used to live in a crowd, not for myself. The injury has set me free. Now I am realising myself the way I want. It's a paradox but, having lost my hand, I became more in demand, interesting projects, proposals and people appear."
