In 2009, while serving with the US Navy Seals in Guam, he was intentionally run over by a truck when he was in hostile territory. "They didn't take too kindly to Americans. Ran me over, left me on the side of the road. I broke my back. The whole left side of my face was crushed. I have three plates and a bunch of screws in my face, I have 10 screws in my hand, ripped most of the muscle and severed nerves on my left arm, collapsed both lungs, ribs broken, puncture wounds through the thigh, tons of internal soft tissue stuff. Other information
He enlisted in the US Navy in 1999 and served with the Navy Seals on three combat tours, before retiring from active duty after recovering from his injuries. He remains involved with the US Navy Seals scouting team and as an ambassador for the Naval Special Warfare programme. (, 08 Aug 2013;, 2012)
