Why this sport?
He wanted to continue in sport following his accident. "My life took another turn. I was not going to fall apart, it is not in my character. As soon as I got out of rehabilitation I purchased a used [wheel]chair. I had always loved the individual dimension of athletics. There are many similarities with inline skating."

Impairment
He is a person with quadriplegia. In about 1999 he was training in Nantes, France, ahead of the world junior inline skating championships to be held in Chile.
