Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
He ran his first marathon in May 2021 in Denmark.
Why this sport?
He has previously competed as a Para triathlete but decided to switch sports as the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of many triathlons, reducing the number of chances he would have to meet the qualifying standard for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. He then achieved a qualifying time in his first ever attempt at a marathon in May 2021 and secured selection for the Games via the wildcard system after the original deadline for running a qualification standard had passed.

In 2020 he switched his focus from Para triathlon to Para athletics in the hope of representing the Faroe Islands at the Paralympic Games. "Neither the Para triathlon nor the Para cycling federations recognise Faroe Islands as a different NPC [National Paralympic Committee] from Denmark. If I wanted to represent my country, it had to be in Para athletics, so here I am. I can run long distances, and that is why I chose the marathon.” (Athlete, 23 Aug 2021)
