PARALYMPIC PLANS
He hopes that future Paralympic Games will offer longer distance running events for standing athletes, as the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo only features longer distance races for wheelchair classification categories. "We've been told the longest [standing] race at the [2020] Paralympics will be 200m. I'm not a sprinter so I won't be going. Hopefully that will change in years to come if we can get more numbers doing the longer distances. Numbers dictate. Age is on my side. The 2024 Paralympics could be a possibility if sufficient numbers want to run the 800m race." (nzherald.co.nz, 16 Jun 2017)
