His father passed away when he was in the second grade of school. He then spent much of his childhood helping his mother sell home-made eucalyptus oil to support the family. "I know very well what it is like to have a hard time in life. So I was very motivated to become successful since elementary school. But, at first I thought, look at me, what can I do? When I found out about sport, I began to see a future." (, 09 Oct 2018)

He painted his topknot red at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia. "I was not targeting medals. I know my competitors are Asian champions. So, I needed a boost of confidence. Red symbolises bravery, for me it also means to live [winning] or die [trying]. When I saw the finish line, I was exhausted and began losing power, but then I heard the crowd yell, 'Indonesia!', it made me take every breath that I had left to go for the finish line." He ended up winning a silver medal in the 200m T47 sprint. (, 09 Oct 2018;, 09 Oct 2018)
