Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
She took up athletics in 2017 at the Asociacion Yo Soy Sus Ojos [I am Your Eyes Association] in Peru.
Why this sport?
"Prior to my impairment, I practised karate. I thought I could not practise any sport, until 2017, when I learned about the Yo Soy Sus Ojos [I am Your Eyes Association], where the visually impaired could practise recreational athletics. There I started running, but I wanted more adrenaline. Then by chance I was enrolled in a national championships, where I raced in 100m, 200m and 400m. In April 2018 I was contacted by national coach Miguel Calmet. He was doing some tests and then summoned me to join the national Para athletics team. I discovered that I could do something else. I could set new goals, new dreams, to represent my country in international events."
