She took up athletics in 1978. After recovering from her accident she returned to the sport in 2001 in Klaipeda, Lithuania. She began competing in the discus in 2018.
Why this sport?
As a child she grew up watching her mother compete in athletics. "Life is different if you live in a home where thoughts, language and daily work revolves around workouts, camps and competitions." In 2017 she was hit by a car, and her injuries meant she could no longer compete in the long jump. As a result she took up the discus.
