He took up para-swimming in 2012.
Why this sport?
He started training in athletics in 2010 and switched to swimming two years later. "When I told my mother I wanted to swim, she did not believe me. She did not think I knew how to swim. When she saw me in the water, and I was making all these strokes, she was surprised."

FROM GUYANA TO FRANCE
He moved from Guyana to France in order to improve his swimming. Training at the Expertise and Sporting Performance Resource Centre in Vichy, he noticed a different attitude towards para-athletes. "At Vichy, I do not feel different. [In Guyana], the others were looking at me as if I disturbed them, even in college. Here, I am considered just like all the others."
