General Interest
Her impairment is a result of the effects of polio. She contracted the illness at age three. (, 19 Sep 2017)
Other information
She comes from Dak Nong Province in Vietnam, but in 2012 she began living in Ho Chi Minh City with her adoptive father Tran Hoang Minh. He has accommodated a number of people with an impairment in his home, and several of them have gone on to become national athletes. "Currently [speaking in 2019] there are about 50 children living there. When I came there, father supported me a lot. I was able to go to school, swim and buy things for training. He has sacrificed a lot, given away everything. To him, taking care of others seems to be fun. I now have a better income but I still like to live with my father. This is much greater than love."
