Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
He began swimming lessons at age five. He also took part in gymnastics from a young age, until an injury in 2012 forced him to give up the sport. He then became classified as Para swimmer.
Why this sport?
"In December 2012, I suffered a shoulder injury at training for gymnastics. In the blink of an eye my life changed, and I had to leave gymnastics behind. Together with my physiotherapist we looked for other options, and I started playing hockey. But it soon became apparent this would also not be possible with my shoulder. I was broken, desperate, and had put on weight. On the way home from the doctor one day I stopped at the swimming pool where my brother was training. He suggested I speak with a coach from the BOAS swim club. A classification was needed to participate in Para swimming, and at that moment it was like a switch being flicked. I had found a new passion."
