When and where did you begin this sport?
He took up the sport in 2016 in Lima, Peru.
Why this sport?
A swimming coach saw him trying to sell candies on a bus and invited him to participate in swimming lessons. "I thought he was joking, but he saw an athlete in me. Everything started there. Getting into the water without legs was not easy, but I began to improve my times, and I got a national record in my category."

He had an accident in July 2014 [age 27] after unintentionally kicking a can with gasoline into a fire. He suffered severe burns and needed emergency surgery. He spent four months in the hospital and underwent a number of surgeries. He needed to have his legs amputated in order to save his life. "It was a very hard blow, a big trauma.
