When and where did you begin this sport?
He learned to swim in a river near his house at age six, but almost stopped after his left leg was amputated below the knee. He began competing in Malaysia about three years after his accident in 2003.

Impairment
In 2000 he was living in Bintulu, a remote coastal area of Malaysia. He was collecting firewood in the jungle with his father when a large rock rolled down the slope where they were standing and crushed his left leg, resulting in amputation.
