Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
She got into Para triathlon in early 2014, having previously been involved in Para swimming.
Why this sport?
She got into triathlon after she was offered a sponsorship for the various types of prosthetic limbs required for each discipline, as she could not afford them on her own. She had always preferred swimming longer distances, and also enjoyed running to school, so triathlon was a natural fit for her.
General Interest
Reading, listening to music, watching movies and television series. (, 15 Jun 2011;, 03 Feb 2016)
She broke two bones in November 2018 after she collided with a car while cycling in Spain. She was unable to train fully until February 2019. (, 28 Aug 2019)

She had foot surgery in early 2018. (, 28 Aug 2019)

In May 2014 she suffered a stress fracture in her leg, which prevented her from running for 10 weeks. (, 24 Sep 2014)
Sporting philosophy / motto
"We are capable of a lot more in life than we might imagine. The loss of your leg does not mean the loss of your life. When one door closes, somewhere a window opens and new opportunities arise." (, 15 Mar 2008)
Other sports
Prior to taking up Para triathlon she competed in Para swimming at international level, including at the European championships. (, 01 Jan 2016)
She was a promising gymnast until she was diagnosed with bone cancer at age eight. After two years in hospital and multiple infections, her right leg had to be amputated. Two months after leaving hospital she was already cycling with a prosthesis. (, 15 Jun 2011;, 11 Nov 2015;, 22 Jul 2015)
