He began the sport in 1997, but he quit the sport in 1999 to look after his family. He returned to Para powerlifting in 2012.

Injuries

FROM BRONZE TO SILVER
The bronze medal he won at the 2014 South American Para Games in Santiago, Chile, was later upgraded to a silver after Colombian powerlifter Ivan Palacios tested positive for a prohibited substance. (paralimpico.cl, 22 Aug 2014)
