He began powerlifting after rehabilitating from his amputation.

He wanted to continue playing American football after losing his leg, so he began lifting weights to increase his strength.

He was named Junior Male Athlete of the Year at the 2014 Georgia Disability Sports Awards in the United States of America. (, 09 Nov 2014)

He has competed in discus and shot put for the US national Para athletics team. He also played for Pasadena City College's American football [able-bodied] team, and competed in wheelchair basketball for the Houston County Sharks in Texas, United States of America. (, 28 Aug 2015;, 09 Nov 2014)
He dislocated his right knee during wrestling practice in November 2011. He went to hospital and was released, but later realised he could not feel his right foot. It was discovered he had pinched a nerve in his leg, and a blood clot formed. Gangrene set in and doctors had to amputate his right leg below the knee. (, 27 Oct 2011)
