When and where did you begin this sport?
He took up powerlifting in 2005.
Why this sport?
"When I first went in my local gym near my home [New Delhi, India] they ignored me and told me I could not do anything. They told me to go home. However I decided that I would carry on powerlifting because it motivates people like me to overcome their impairments and to become a source of inspiration for others."

Awards and honours
He received the 2010 National Role Model Award for Empowerment of Persons with Impairments from the then president of India, Pratibha Patil. (Sahyog Quarterly E-Newsletter, 01 Jul 2018;, 04 Dec 2010)
His impairment is a result of the effects of polio. He contracted the illness as a baby. "I underwent 10 operations until the age of 14, after which I hit the gym. People made fun of me when I held the dumbbells for the first time. Their giggles and laughs instilled in me the passion to work even harder." Other information
He runs Workout Wonders Gym in New Delhi, India. He has also been involved with Delhi University, providing guidance counselling to students with impairments, and worked as a health consultant for the Central Reserve Police Force [CRPF] in India. "People with impairments, from students to senior citizens, can work out for free in my gym while the able-bodied members have to pay a fee. I've also been working with Delhi University authorities to counsel students with impairments who come to the varsity from all corners of the country."
