NATIONAL FIRSTS
In 2008 he became the first powerlifter representing Greece to win a medal at the Paralympic Games when he took silver in the 82.5kg category in Beijing. In 2016 he became the first Greek powerlifter to win a gold medal at the Games when he was victorious in the 107kg category in Rio de Janeiro. (SportsDeskOnline, 14 Sep 2016)

TOUGH CHILDHOOD
He dropped out of school during the sixth grade due to him being bullied by other students. He mostly stayed at home until age 27, when he discovered powerlifting. At age 35 he attended a school for adult learning and completed his physical education studies. "It was difficult years, kids at school did not know how to behave with a disabled child.
