She began the sport to escape depression after the amputation of her leg. "I was bored with sitting at home and wanted to prove to myself and others that I can be useful."

Impairment
When she was pregnant in 2000, she started to feel pain in her leg. Several days after giving birth to her daughter, she underwent surgery but her leg became paralysed. Five years later, it was amputated. (Women of Yamal, 20 Jan 2014)
