He first tried shooting at a range with his father as a child. He switched to shooting Para sport from wheelchair curling after his curling team broke up following the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

He and his wife Sari met through wheelchair curling, and competed together at two editions of the Paralympic Winter Games. He was replaced as skip of the Finland team by Sari ahead of the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. "I'm not jealous or anything. We have a very good skip in Sari and we recognised that."
