When and where did you begin this sport?
He first tried skiing at age five. He took up Para skiing six months after his stroke.
Why this sport?
He took up Para-skiing as part of his rehabilitation. "At the hospital I thought, either I give up or I fight. I wanted to be able to ski again. Skiing is my number one. It has always spurred me on, not giving up, that means everything to me."

Impairment
In July 2009 he had a stroke while playing hockey for his school team in Ulm, Germany, which resulted in paralysis of the right side of his body. Doctors concluded the cause of the stroke was a hole in his heart. (Facebook page, 12 Dec 2018; schwaebische.de, 22 Nov 2010)
