Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
He began skiing at age nine at Loanhead Primary School in Scotland but gave up the sport after an accident. "At this point, we didn't know the extent of my visual impairment and it resulted in me wiping out another kid! It scared us all and I stopped skiing." He took up the sport again with the Scottish Visually Impaired Skiers club in 2015 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Why this sport?
He decided to resume skiing after watching the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi. "I was so inspired by the visually impaired athletes' talent and skill that I turned to my mum and said, 'I'd really like to give skiing another go'. I'd been competitively swimming for my Scottish district and almost made it to the team but my epileptic seizures in the pool had forced me to quit due to almost drowning five times. I decided to take two buses up to Hillend [Midlothian Snowsports Centre] and give it another go and found out a blind ski club had been formed."
