He began the sport in 2016 in Harbin, People's Republic of China, at age 18.
Why this sport?
He participated in an athlete selection day held by the Disabled Persons' Federation of Yunnan Province in the People's Republic of China after a recommendation from his physical education teacher. He comes from a tropical forest area, and wanted to challenge himself with a different sport.
