When and where did you begin this sport?
She began skiing at age three, and competed in her first Para alpine skiing race in Austria in 2021.
Why this sport?
Her family was involved in skiing. After her accident, her father encouraged her to try Para skiing and travelled with her to France to purchase a sit-ski. "I came to France to try sledding, so maybe I could reach a level where I could meet my friends on the slopes."

In 2018 she was involved in a head-on traffic collision while travelling back from a competition with members of the Finnish alpine skiing junior team. Her injuries resulted in paraplegia, while two people travelling in the other car died in the accident. (, 23 Nov 2021, 21 Dec 2020)

Her coach from her able-bodied alpine skiing career, Mikko Heiskanen, continued to coach her after her accident despite having no experience of coaching Para skiers. "My old coach said let's go to the gym and see what you can do. To lift weights if I could no longer do other movements.
