Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
He began playing Para ice hockey in August 2013.
Why this sport?
A friend persuaded him to try the sport. He initially had to practise skating in a borrowed sledge on frozen lakes in Sweden because it was difficult to find ice time in an arena. "I liked the sport because it was intense and I had good friends to play it with. The standard of the sport is really high compared to what I was doing before with wheelchair floorball."

He won a gold medal in wheelchair floorball at the 2010 World Championships in the Czech Republic. He has also competed in handcycling at national level in Sweden. (Facebook page, 21 Nov 2015;, 19 Sep 2015;, 21 Jul 2010)
In June 2006 he was trying to show his wife Marie how to climb a rock wall near Falun, Sweden. His safety rope broke and he fell headlong 10 metres, breaking his back and left arm. He was paralysed from the waist down. (, 27 Apr 2016;, 12 Nov 2013)
Other information
After injuring his back in 2006, he suffered a constant pain and became addicted to pain killers. "I was constantly looking for places where I could find peace of mind. They became more and more important. Once, I sat in the car with my daughter and saw how life [with addiction] would go in front of my eyes. Then I decided, 'This is not going to happen'." (, 05 Aug 2018;, 16 Mar 2018)

He has published a book called, 'Ingen vill dricka kaffe med nagon som ar bitter' [Nobody wants to have coffee with someone who is bitter], a story about three people who meet in the waiting room of a hospital emergency ward. "It is very ironic and self-critical. I hope it will help people get an understanding of those of us who have been hurt." (, 28 Sep 2016)
