She was born with amniotic band syndrome and club foot, and had numerous operations to correct the condition. "At age 12 my orthopaedic surgeon suggested another corrective surgery that consisted of a metal plate and seven screws to be inserted in my left foot in order to straighten and flatten out my foot. Unfortunately I developed a bad Staph infection a few months later. Several more surgeries and antibiotics followed but to no avail.
