Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
He began snowboarding at age seven in California, United States of America, and took up Para snowboarding after recovering from his accident.
Why this sport?
His father encouraged sports and outdoor activities in the family, and snowboarding had been a regular vacation activity. "I wrestle and play a little bit of football. At first, it was a little tricky to get back on the mountain and the board after staying at home forever. It's worked out so perfect for me."

Impairment
In 2016, a week after he got his driver's license, he crashed his car into a ditch and suffered severe injuries to both legs. His left leg was only attached by soft tissue and was keeping him trapped in the wreckage, so emergency responders made the call to amputate his leg to save his life. Doctors saved his right leg, but it contains numerous pins and a titanium rod. (daily-tribune.com, 08 Apr 2018)

WRESTLING RETURNS CONFIDENCE
He wrestled at school prior to his accident. He was able to return to the mat after recovering, and finished his first season back as a Class 4A state-level wrestler. Both he and his father agree that being able to return to the wrestling mat was crucial to overcoming depression following the loss of his leg and giving him the confidence to try snowboarding. "As soon as I saw I could do wrestling, I think I could do anything. I was like, 'Nothing is going to be able to stop me.' All the success in wrestling helped motivate me to have success in snowboarding." (daily-tribune.com, 08 Apr 2018)
