When and where did you begin this sport?
After his accident and leg amputation in 2001 he underwent rehabilitation at a clinic near Augsburg [Germany]. There he met Roberto Simonazzi who had already won several medals at Paralympic Games and who worked with an orthopaedic technician, Herbert Ganter. Simonazzi and Ganter brought him back to sports with a high-tech prosthesis.

He had been aiming to become a professional football player and had already agreed terms with Fortuna Cologne, when his knee was broken during his last match for VfR Grünstadt in September 2001. He was diagnosed with compartment syndrome. His leg was no longer being supplied with blood from the knee down so it had to be amputated. (, 16 Nov 2010)
