Sport Specific Information
When and where did you begin this sport?
He began Para powerlifting in 2005 in Cairo.
Why this sport?
His first coach, Said Abd El Hafez, who won Egypt's first Paralympic powerlifting medal, encouraged him to take up the sport. "Being born with a disability in a small village in Egypt is not an easy thing. I saw a lot of pity and difficulties so I wanted to change this and make myself and my family proud. I wanted to send a message to the world that I can do anything I want. I met a friend after graduating from college who encouraged me to start powerlifting and go to my first training session."
